10. LONG-TERM STRATEGIC PLANNING FOR
TRANSMISSION ASSETS
POLICY 13
Decision-makers must recognise that the designation process can facilitate long-term planning for the development, operation and maintenance of electricity transmission infrastructure.
POLICY 14
Regional councils must include objectives, policies and methods to facilitate long-term planning for investment in transmission infrastructure and its integration with land uses.

Explanatory Note
This note is not part of the national policy statement but is intended to indicate its general effect.
This national policy statement comes into force 28 days after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette. It provides that electricity transmission is a matter of national significance under the Resource Management Act 1991 and prescribes an objective and policies to guide the making of resource management decisions.
The national policy statement requires local authorities to give effect to its provisions in plans made under the Resource Management Act 1991 by initiating a plan change or review within four years of its approval.

Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998
Corrigendum—Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 12) 2003 (No. F247)
In the notice with the above heading, dated the 28th day of April 2003 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 1 May 2003, No. 42, page 1129, please replace clauses 3(c) and 3(d) with the following interpretations:
“(c) Matai Hamuera Broughton to manage customary food gathering in the area described by a line beginning:
(i) on the coastline at Owahanga (40°41.0′S 176°21.5′E);
(ii) then perpendicular to the coastline out to the 12 nautical mile limit (40°47.5′S 176°34.1′E);
(iii) then south along the 12 nautical mile limit to a point (41°01.0′S 176°22.3′E);
(iv) then west towards the Whareama River at (41°01.0′S 176°06.5′E);
(v) and then north-east following the coastline to the point of commencement.
(d) Pikihuia Monica Wilton to manage customary food gathering in the area described by a line beginning:
(i) on the coastline at Mataikona (40°47.0′S 176°16.0′E);
(ii) then perpendicular to the coastline out to the 12 nautical mile limit (40°52.0′S 176°30.5′E);
(iii) then south along the 12 nautical mile limit to a point (41°01.0′S 176°22.3′E);
(iv) then west towards the Whareama River at (41°01.0′S 176°06.5′E);”

In the notice with the above heading, dated the 22nd day of October 2004 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 28 October 2004, No. 138, page 3417, please replace clause 2(d)(ii) with the following interpretation:
“(ii) secondly, an area described by a line beginning:
(a) on the coastline at Owahanga (40°41.0′S 176°21.5′E);
(b) then perpendicular to the coastline out to the 12 nautical mile limit (40°47.5′S 176°34.1′E);
(c) then south along the 12 nautical mile limit to a point (41°01.0′S 176°22.3′E);
(d) then west towards the Whareama River at (41°01.0′S 176°06.5′E); and
(e) then north-east following the coastline to the point of commencement.”

Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 4) 2008 (No. F439)
Pursuant to Regulations 9 and 10 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998, the Programme Manager (Deed of Settlement Implementation Programme) at the Ministry of Fisheries (acting pursuant to a delegated authority in accordance with section 41 of the State Sector Act 1988) gives the following notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 4) 2008.
(2) This notice shall come into effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.
- Interpretation—In this notice:
(a) “mahinga mātaitai” are local dialect words that have the same meaning as “customary food gathering”, a term that is defined in Regulation 2 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998;
(b) “Kaitiaki” is a local dialect word that has the same meaning as “Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki”, a term that is defined in Regulation 2 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998.
(c) “Kaitiaki” means the person or persons appointed under Regulation 9 or 10 of the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Regulations 1998 for the management of mahinga mātaitai within the area/rohe moana.
(d) “area/rohe moana” means all that area of waters enclosed by a line commencing:
(i) at a point on the coastline at Paritu (38°57.0′S 177°54.2′E);
