Running Line Descriptions of Controlled Areas—

Central North Island

All land enclosed by the following peripheral line:

From the outlet of the Waikato River at Lake Taupo north along State Highway 1, then south-west along Oruanui Road and
north-west along Forest Road to the forest edge then north along the forest boundary to Tirohanga Road. Follow Tirohanga
Road east to Waipapa Stream then follow Waipapa Stream to the Waikato River. Follow the southern and western bank of
the Waikato River westerly along the Waikato River to the Waipapa Dam. From the Waipapa Dam north on the Waipapa
Road to Lake Road. Along Lake Road to Wairehi Road, along Wairehi Road to Aotearoa Road, along Aotearoa Road north
to the intersection with Kahorekau Road, then in a straight line in a westerly direction to the Bayley Road-Ngaromo Road
intersection. Follow Ngaromo Road westward onto Hingaia Road and then south to Wharepuhunga Road. West along
Wharepuhunga Road to Maihihi Road, then south down Maihihi Road to Tauraroa Valley Road. West along Tauraroa
Valley Road to Toa Bridge. From Toa Bridge north-west along Waipa River to Grid Reference NZMS 260-S16:125276,
from there in a straight line south to the junction of Otewa Road and Barber Road. South along Barber Road, continuing as
Rangitoto Road, to the Rangitoto Road-Block Road East intersection and then in a straight line to State Highway 30 at Grid
Reference NZMS 260-S17:048055. From there south-east along State Highway 30 to its junction with the Waimiha Road
to the Ruapehu District boundary. Follow the District Boundary to Maukau Road intersection with Takiri Road, then west
along Takiri Road then south along Ongarue-Waimiha Road to its intersection with State Highway 4. Follow State
Highway 4 to the Ongarue River at Grid Reference NZMS 260-S18:066724. Follow the Ongarue River south to meet the
Whanganui River at Taumarunui Grid Reference NZMS 260-S18:056546. Follow the Whanganui River south to the
Te Maire River Bridge. Follow a straight line to Pationui hill and follow the ridgeline to Pukehou and then Makahiwi
No. 2. Follow the ridgeline via Ohuha Stream to Te Ruahine No. 2, then follow the Mangaorakei Stream until it reaches the
Retaruke River. Follow the Retaruke River eastwards until it meets the Oio Stream, then in a straight line to the peak of
Owairua Hill. Follow the ridgeline south to Puketawhero and then south-east to Toutouwai Stream, then west along
Toutouwai Stream to Maungaroa Stream. Follow the ridgeline to the peak of Maungaroa Hill, then follow the ridgeline
south-west to the headwaters of the Taheke Stream. Follow the Taheke Stream downstream until it reaches the Verona
Stream and follow this to the junction of Verona Stream and Mangatiti Stream Grid Reference NZMS 260-S20:930137.
Follow Mangatiti Stream to start of Muru Muru Road to Ruatiti Road and Ohura Road junction. Follow Ohura Road south
to junction of Orautoha Stream and Manganui o Te Ao River Grid Reference NZMS 260-S20:027067. Follow the
Manganui o Te Ao River eastward to junction of Makatote River. Follow Makatote River to the National Park boundary
Grid Reference NZMS 260-S20:170128. Follow the National Park boundary northward to State Highway 1 (Desert
Road) Grid Reference NZMS 260-T19:514270. Follow a straight line to Trig Papapohatu Grid Reference NZMS
260-T19:605357. From Trig in a straight line to Motutere Point on Lake Taupo. Then in a straight line south-east to the
Mohaka River Grid Reference NZMS 260-U19:010264. Then following the Mohaka River downstream to the road bridge
on State Highway 5. From this point follow State Highway 5 south-east to the Titiokura Summit, then north-east to the Trig
named Wakaateo No. 2 Grid Reference NZMS 260-V20:296170. From here, following the high points of the Maungaharuru
Range to Trig Patuwahine No. 2 Grid Reference NZMS 260-V19:427302, then in a straight line to Trig 88 Heruotureia
Grid Reference NZMS 260-V19:451315 then in a straight line to Rakaita Trig Grid Reference NZMS 260-V19:437354.
From this trig north-west in a straight line to the junction of Henderson Road and Kerr Road Grid Reference NZMS
260-U18:931795 north of Rangitaiki, then in a straight line to the south bank of the Waikato River Grid Reference
NZMS 260-U17:920839. Following the south bank of the Waikato River to the State Highway 1 bridge crossing the river
at Lake Taupo outlet.

Southern North Island

All land enclosed by the following peripheral line:

From the Owahanga River mouth up the Owahanga River to the junction of Coast Road and Marainanga Road. Continue
south-west along Marainanga Road and Sugarloaf Road to the boundary of the Wellington Regional Council.
Continue west along the Wellington Regional Council boundary Section 20 Block X Owahanga Survey District. Follow the
southern boundaries of Section 20 Block X Owahanga Survey District, Lot 2 DP 29315, Lot 2 DP, Lot 1 DP 29315,
Section 24 Block IX Owahanga Survey District, part Lot 1 DP 10913, Lot 2 DP 16264, Lot 4 DP 16264, Lot 3 DP 16264,
Lot 4 DP 13267, Lot 3 DP 13267, part Lot 1 DP 13267, Section 19, 22, 15, 14 of Block XII Puketoi Survey District until
it meets the Wellington Regional Council boundary. Then in a general west-south-west direction along the Regional
boundary. At the point where the regional boundary meets Waitawhiti Road follow the road in an easterly direction, along
the southern and western boundaries of Section 17 Block XVI Puketoi Survey District, Lot 1 DP 367506, Section 33 Block
XVI Puketoi Survey District, Section 26 Block XVI Puketoi Survey District, Lot 1 DP 54033 to Te Mai Road. Follow
Te Mai Road south and then west to the junction with Tanawa Road. Follow Tanawa Road south to where it changes to the
Tinui Valley Road. Follow the Tinui Valley Road to the Masterton-Castlepoint Road. Follow the Masterton-Castlepoint
Road in a westerly direction to the point opposite Adams Peak Road. Follow the western boundaries of part Lot 2 DP 7201,
part Lot 20 DP 14710, part Lot 19 DP 14710, Lot 4 DP 81265, part Lot 2 DP 11340, Lot 1 DP 69972, until Lot 2
DP 81119. Continue west along the northern boundaries of Lot 2 DP 81119, the western boundary of part Section 672
Whareama District, and the northern boundaries of part Section 674 Whareama District, and part Section 673 Whareama
District, until it intersects Puketiritiri Road. Follow Puketiritiri Road in a westerly direction to the Masterton-Stronvar
Road. Follow the Masterton-Stronvar Road in a westerly direction until it crosses the Tauweru River. Follow the
Tauweru River in a south-westerly direction to the Ruamahanga River. Follow the Ruamahanga River downstream until it
meets the Waiohine River. Follow the Waiohine River upstream until it meets State Highway 2. Follow State Highway 2
north to Belvedere Road. Follow Belvedere Road west to Upper Belvedere Road. Follow Upper Belvedere Road to the
junction with Hoeke Road. Follow Hoeke Road to the boundary of Lot 1 DP 73054. Follow the northern boundaries of Lot
1 DP 65922, Lot 1 DP 66513, part Section 312 Taratahi District, Section 396 Taratahi District Section 2, Block V Tiffin
