Notice of Final Decisions to Assign or Alter Place Names

Pursuant to section 15 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice is hereby given of the final decisions of the
New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign new or altered place names, stated in the first column
of the Schedule below, to the places described in the second column of the said Schedule, and that such decisions take effect
on 15 June 2007.

Schedule

North Auckland Land District

Five Manawatāwhi/Three Kings Islands place names – topographic map 260-L01 Three Kings and hydrographic chart NZ4111:

Lion Rock
Coastal marine feature located at the easternmost end of Princes Islands,
Manawatāwhi/Three Kings Islands, topographic map 260-L01 Three Kings,
GR 243 804, and hydrographic chart NZ4111, 34°10′40″S Latitude 172°03′27″E
Longitude. Not named on current map. Lion Rock shown on current chart.

Maratea Shoals
Group of three exposed shoals south of Tasman Bay, Manawatāwhi/Great Island,
GR 328 815 and 34°10′S Latitude 172°09′E Longitude. Not named on current map.
Dragon Teeth Shoals (not official) shown on current chart.

Pataea Bay
Coastal bay at the westernmost end of Manawatāwhi/Great Island, GR 302 833 and
34°09′S Latitude 172°07′20″E Longitude. Not named on current map. Crater Bay
(not official) shown on current chart.

Petu Point
Coastal point at the north-easternmost end of Manawatāwhi/Great Island, GR 334 839
and 34°08′40″S Latitude 172°09′30″E Longitude. Not named on current map or chart.
Also referred to as East Point or Kaharoa Point (not official).

Tapatu Bay
Coastal bay at the south-west of Manawatāwhi/Great Island, GR 306 823 and 34°09′40″S
Latitude 172°07′35″E Longitude. Not named on current map. Little Bear Bay (not official)
shown on current chart.

Taranaki Land District

Oneone Hill
Hill at height 351m, located in Mount Messenger Forest, topographic map 260-R18
Ohura, GR 516 517. Spelling alteration from Oenone.

Nelson Land District

Neimann Creek
Stream flowing generally easterly from State Highway 60 into Waimea Inlet, topographic
map 260-N27 Moutere, source: GR 211 882, approximate confluence: GR 230 889.
Spelling alteration from Neiman Creek.

Canterbury Land District

Paterson Hill
Hill at height 1113m, located in the foothills above where the Waimakariri River enters
the Canterbury Plains, topographic map 260-L34 Puketeraki, GR 226 741. Spelling
alteration from Patterson Hill (replacing previous New Zealand Gazette, 13 January
1966, No. 1, page 18).

Paterson Stream
Stream flowing generally easterly into the Waimakariri River, located in the foothills
above where the Waimakariri River enters the Canterbury Plains, topographic map
260-L34 Puketeraki, source: GR 202 716, confluence: GR 243 005. Spelling alteration
from Patterson Stream.

Westland Land District

Heemskerck Glacier
Alpine glacier flowing northerly from the main divide into Albert Glacier, located north
of Mount Tasman, topographic map 260-H36 Mount Cook, GR 810 355. Spelling
alteration from Heemskirk Glacier.

Otago Land District

Pahatea/Durden Hill
Hill at height 444m, located 3km northwest of Waikouaiti, with a beaconed trig station
"A26E, D Derdan Hill" at its summit, topographic map 260-I43 Waikouaiti,
GR 255 119. Restoring the original Māori name and spelling alteration from Derdan
Hill.

Southland Land District

Grainger Falls
Waterfall located along Grainger Stream, topographic map 260-A44 and A45 Five
Fingers and West Cape, GR 092 496. Not depicted or named on current map.

Grainger Stream
Stream commencing from its outlet along the eastern shores of Lake Hector, flowing
generally easterly and southerly into the Western Passage of Chalky Inlet, located in
southern Fiordland, topographic map 260-A44 and A45 Five Fingers and West Cape,
source: GR 086 497, confluence: GR 091 492. Not named on current map.

Notice is hereby given of the final decisions of the New Zealand Geographic Board Ngā Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa to assign the
place names stated in the first column of Schedule 1 below, to the places described in the second column of the said Schedule,
and to remove the place names stated in the first column of Schedule 2 below, to the places described in the second column of
the said Schedule, and that such decisions take effect on the date of the New Zealand Gazette containing this notice.
