Corrections
Corrections Act 2004
Variations of Security Contract
Pursuant to section 170 of the Corrections Act 2004,
I, Damien Peter O’Connor, Minister of Corrections, hereby
give notice that:
Firstly, on 1 August 2006, the Chief Executive of
the Department of Corrections and Chubb New Zealand
Limited entered into Variation (No.2) to the Agreement
for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom
Custodial Services in the Auckland/Northland Region,
being a security contract.
Variation (No.2) was effective from 1 August 2006.
In summary, Variation (No.2):
● replaces Mt Eden Women’s Prison with Auckland
Region Women’s Corrections Facility as a location for
the provision of prisoner escort services;
● allows remand prisoners to be escorted to courts when
appearing as witnesses;
● permits emergency escorts to and from locations outside
the Auckland/Northland region; and
● permits inter-prison escorts between Northland Region
Corrections Facility and other prisons in the Auckland
region, from a date to be notified.
Secondly, on 26 April 2007, the Chief Executive of the
Department of Corrections and Chubb New Zealand
Limited entered into Variation (No.3) to the Agreement
for the Provision of Prisoner Escort and Courtroom
Custodial Services in the Auckland/Northland Region,
being a security contract.
Variation (No.3) was effective from 26 April 2007.
In summary, Variation (No.3):
● ensures the separation of youths under the age of 18
from all other prisoners during prisoner escorts;
● amends the agreement to clearly state the obligations of
all parties involved in the provisions of the services;
● increases the annual price payable, to reflect the cost
impacts of increasing tasking volumes; and
● increases the contract number of tasking volumes
annually from 1 July 2006.
