Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996

Declaration Under the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996

Whereas, pursuant to section 441 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Minister of Transport did delegate those powers under section 12(6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to Maritime New Zealand by an instrument of delegation dated 19 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 442 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Maritime New Zealand did delegate those powers under section 12(6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to the Director of Maritime New Zealand by an instrument of delegation dated 26 March 1997.

And whereas, pursuant to section 443 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, the Director of Maritime New Zealand did delegate those powers under section 12(6) of the Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Act 1996 to me by an instrument of delegation dated 17 August 2005.

Therefore I, John Norman Keith Mansell, General Manager Maritime Operations, Maritime New Zealand, hereby make the following declaration:

Declaration

The Submarine Cables and Pipelines Protection Order 1992 shall not apply in respect of the following ships:

Paraki
Tio

whilst working in the protected area designated "Area 7 – Cook Strait" for the completion of a baseline and biosecurity survey during the period 17 April 2007 to 23 April 2007, subject to the conditions required by Transpower New Zealand Limited.

This notice comes into effect on and from the time of publication of this notice on 8 March 2007.

Declaring the Disposition of Land to be Exempt From Section 24 of the Conservation Act 1987

Under section 24B(4)(b) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Minister of Conservation declares that the marginal strip requirements set out in section 24 of the Conservation Act 1987 shall not apply to the disposition to Meridian Energy Limited of the land required in connection with electricity works for the Pukaki High Dam, specified in the Schedule.
