After considering the report and recommendations from
consultation on the draft New Zealand Energy Efficiency
and Conservation Strategy, pursuant to section 17(2)(c) of
the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2000, the
Government gives the following notice:
● On 11 October 2000, the New Zealand Energy Efficiency
and Conservation Strategy was released by the Minister
of Energy.
● This is New Zealand’s second national Energy Efficiency
and Conservation Strategy. It is now called the
New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation
Strategy.
● Further consultation, including 188 formal submissions,
contributed to the final strategy.
● Major changes made to the draft strategy focused on
quantifying the range for the renewables target and
refining the measures for each of the sector programmes.
● The strategy aims to help create a sustainable energy
future that will provide New Zealanders with economic,
social and environmental benefits. In doing so, it will
also assist us to meet our international climate change
commitments.
