Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975

Supplementary Integration Agreement

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

St Patrick’s College, Silverstream.

The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on 3 July 2006.

A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the local office of the Ministry of Education, 19 Market Grove, Lower Hutt.

Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999

Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 2) 2006 (No. F368)

Pursuant to Regulation 9 (2) of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, the Programme Manager (Deed of Settlement Implementation Programme) at the Ministry of Fisheries (acting pursuant to a delegated authority in accordance with section 41 of the State Sector Act 1999) gives the following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 2) 2006.

(2) This notice shall come into effect the day after the date of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—In this notice:

(a) “customary food gathering” has the same meaning as defined in the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999.

(b) any reference to “Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki” means the person or persons appointed under Regulation 9 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999 for the management of customary food gathering within the area/rohe moana.

(c) “area/rohe moana” means the area from Kahurangi Point to Abut Head, extending seaward in a westerly direction to the limit of the South Island fisheries waters as defined in the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, being the 200-mile limit, and inland to the boundaries defined for Te Rūnaka o Kāti Waewae and Te Rūnanga o Te Koeti Tūranga in the First Schedule of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu Act 1996.\n
3. Nomination of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—Jerry Pakihere Pū was nominated as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki by the Tauwhare whānau. His appointment was originally confirmed by the Minister of Fisheries by way of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 26) 2001 (No. F172)*. The Tauwhare whānau, being the tāngata whenua who holds manawhenua manamoana over the area/rohe moana (as represented by Te Rūnanga o Ngai Tahu), has nominated Jerry Pakihere Pū as the Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana for a further five-year period.

  1. Appointment of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—On 13 June 2006, the Associate Minister of Fisheries confirmed the appointment of Jerry Pakihere Pū as the Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for managing customary food gathering in the area/rohe moana. The appointment is for five years commencing the day this notice comes into effect.

  2. Power to authorise the taking of fisheries resources for customary food gathering—The Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki may authorise any individual to take fisheries resources managed under the Fisheries Act 1996 for customary food gathering purposes from within the whole or any part of the area/rohe moana. No customary food gathering of fisheries resources may take place in the area/rohe moana without an authorisation from the Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki.
