Reappointments/appointment to the Families Commission

Pursuant to section 28 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, the Minister for Social Development and Employment has reappointed

as a Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Families Commission for a further term of two years commencing on 15 December 2006; and

Lynnette Claire Campbell, of Motueka

as a part-time Commissioner of the Families Commission for a further term of two years commencing on 15 December 2006; and appointed

David Smyth, of Wellington

as a part-time Commissioner of the Families Commission for a term of three years commencing on 15 December 2006.

I, John Henry Whitehead, Secretary to the Treasury, hereby give notice that on 1 November 2006, I first became aware that the Crown was vested under section 324 (1) of the Companies Act 1993 (by virtue of the removal of On Quay 2000 Limited from the Register of Companies on 16 June 2004, pursuant to section 324 of the Companies Act 1993) with funds standing to the credit of an account with Bank of New Zealand of approximately $1,064.43.

Public Finance Act 1989

Statement of Indemnities Given Under the Public Finance Act 1989—Contact Energy Limited

Pursuant to section 65ZD (3) of the Public Finance Act 1989, the Minister of Finance makes the following statement:

"On 8 November 2006 I, The Honourable Dr Michael John Cullen, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Crown gave an indemnity to Contact Energy Limited in relation to certain losses suffered or incurred by Contact Energy Limited as Lessee under the Wairakei Geothermal Special Purpose Lease, and caused by or resulting from negligence, fault or breach by the Crown as Lessor and/or persons under the control of the Lessor and resulting from any breach of the Lessor's obligations under the Lease; and

On 8 November 2006 I, The Honourable Dr Michael John Cullen, Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Crown gave an indemnity to Contact Energy Limited in relation to certain losses suffered or incurred by Contact Energy Limited as Grantee of the Wairakei Geothermal and Electricity Easement, and caused by negligence or fault of the Crown as Grantor and/or persons under the control of the Grantor and resulting from any breach of the Grantor's obligations in the Easement."
