Map of the controlled area

The map outlines the boundaries of the controlled area in the northern part of the South Island and southern part of the North Island of New Zealand. The highlighted zones are marked with red and yellow lines:

  • Red boundary line demarcates the western and southern edges of the controlled area, extending from Golden Bay in the northwest down through to Farewell Spit, following the coast southwards and curving east around the top of the South Island.

  • Yellow boundary line extends from the vicinity of Kahurangi Point, moving eastward, then northeast to include parts of Tasman Bay and around the Marlborough Sounds area. It continues along the northeastern coastal regions up through to the Cape Campbell area.

Western Boundary (Red Line)

  • Cape Farewell
  • Farewell Spit
  • Whanganui Inlet
  • Kahurangi Point
  • Karamea Bight
  • Cape Foulwind
  • Paparoa Range
  • Grey Valley

Eastern Boundary (Yellow Line)

  • Tasman Bay
  • Nelson
  • Marlborough Sounds
  • Queen Charlotte Sound
  • Picton
  • Cloudy Bay
  • Wairau River
  • Cape Campbell

Central and Enclosed Areas:

  • Abel Tasman National Park
  • Kahurangi National Park
  • Nelson Lakes National Park
  • Various State Forests and Conservation Areas

Additional Details:

  • Longitude and Latitude: Coordinates are marked along the edges, with the area spanning approximately between 172°E to 175°E longitude and 40°S to 42.5°S latitude.
