Effective Date of Amendments to Material Incorporated by Reference into Civil Aviation Rules
In accordance with section 36 (2A) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notice is hereby given that the following amendments to material incorporated by reference under section 36 (1) of the Act into the specified Civil Aviation Rules shall take effect on the following dates:

Traffic Regulations 1976
Approval of Side Marker Lamps on Heavy Vehicles
Pursuant to Regulation 64 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and under delegated authority, I, John Patrick White, Manager Safer Vehicle Policy, Land Transport New Zealand, hereby approve the fitting of side-marker lamps to the vehicles specified in Schedule 1 of this notice, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1
Approved vehicles
Heavy vehicles, being those of Classes NB, NC, MD, ME, TC or TD, or any other vehicle not in these classes whose Gross Vehicle Mass exceeds 3500kg, that are first registered in New Zealand before 27 February 2005.
Schedule 2
Conditions
The lamps must:
(i) Display to the front so as not to be visible from the rear a light substantially white or amber in colour visible through an angle of 60 degrees above and 60 degrees below a horizontal plane passing through the lamp and through an angle of 60 degrees forward of a vertical plane passing through the lamp at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle; and
(ii) Display to the rear so as not to be visible from the front a light substantially red or amber in colour visible through an angle of 60 degrees above and 60 degrees below a horizontal plane passing through the lamp and through an angle of 60 degrees to the rear of a vertical plane passing through the lamp at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.
