  1. Nomination of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—The Korako
    Karetai Trust, being the tangata whenua holding manawhenua
    manamoana over the area/rohe moana (as represented by
    Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu), has nominated Robert Leggat
    (Paul) Karaitana, Tawhiri George Karetai and Paul Kemp as
    Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana for five-year
    periods.

  2. Appointment of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—On
    8 December 2005, the Associate Minister of Fisheries
    (acting pursuant to a delegated authority) confirmed the
    appointment of Robert Leggat (Paul) Karaitana, Tawhiri
    George Karetai and Paul Kemp as Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki
    for managing customary food gathering in the area/rohe
    moana. The appointments are for five-year terms
    commencing the day this notice comes into effect.

  3. Power to authorise taking of fisheries resources for
    customary food gathering
    —The Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki
    may authorise any individual to take fisheries resources
    managed under the Fisheries Act 1996 for customary food
    gathering purposes from within the whole or any part of
    the area/rohe moana.

Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Notice
(No. 9) 2005 (No. F353)

Pursuant to Regulation 21 and 22 of the Fisheries (South
Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, a Senior
Fisheries Management Advisor of the Ministry of Fisheries
(acting pursuant to a delegated authority in accordance with
section 41 of the State Sector Act 1998) hereby gives the
following notice.

Notice

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be
    cited as the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing)
    Notice (No. 9) 2005.

(2) This notice shall come into effect the day after the date
of its notification in the New Zealand Gazette.

  1. Interpretation—In this notice:

(a) “mātaitai reserve” means a traditional fishing ground
at Koukourarata (Port Levy) encompassing those
waters that lie south of a straight line drawn from
Te Piaka/Adderley Head to Akeake/Baleine Point;

(b) “Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki” means the person or persons
appointed under Regulation 21 or 22 of the Fisheries
(South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999
as Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve.

  1. Nomination of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—Te Rūnanga
    o Koukourarata, being the tangata whenua holding
    manawhenua manamoana over the mātaitai reserve
    (as represented by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu), has nominated
    Tim Manawatu for a further term as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki
    for the mātaitai reserve, and Meri Crofts for an initial term
    as a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve.

  2. Appointment of Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki—On
    6 December 2005, the Associate Minister of Fisheries
    (acting pursuant to a delegated authority) confirmed the
    reappointment of Tim Manawatu, and the appointment of
    Meri Crofts, as Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai
    reserve. The reappointment and appointment are for five-year
    terms commencing the day this notice comes into effect.

Appointment to Nelson Marlborough District Health Board (DHB)

Pursuant to section 29 (1) (b) of the New Zealand Public
Health and Disability Act 2000 and notice to the member
under section 28 of the Crown Entities Act 2004, I appoint

as a member of the board of Nelson Marlborough DHB;
and, pursuant to clause 10 (1) of Schedule 3 to the
New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000, I also

These appointments will both take effect on 1 January 2006
