Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Glentunnel School (3352)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Glentunnel School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school and educational performance of the students at the school.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in a limited statutory manager:

● Employment (whether statutory or otherwise); and
● curriculum (whether statutory or otherwise).

A limited statutory manager must also advise the board on the following:

● Staff/board and board/community relations.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

Alternative Constitution for the Board of Trustees of Waitati School (3857)

Pursuant to section 105A of the Education Act 1989 (“the Act”), I hereby approve the following constitution for the board of trustees of Waitati School:

● The principal;
● one staff representative;
● six trustees appointed by the Minister of Education; and
● up to two trustees co-opted by the board.

The appointment or co-option of a trustee may be for a term not exceeding three years.

The staff representative will be elected in accordance with sections 97 (1) and 101 of the Act and the Education (School Trustees Election) Regulations 2000.

In addition, all relevant provisions under Part 9 of the Act will apply to the staff representative.

For the first and subsequent elections for a staff representative, a returning officer will be appointed by the board and will carry out the duties in accordance with the Education (School Trustees Election) Regulations 2000.

Trustees appointed to the first board established under section 105A of the Education Act will take office on 16 September 2005.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of its publication.

Waikato Waldorf School (539), Hamilton, Board of Trustees Parent Representative By-election Invalidation Notice

Pursuant to clauses 9 (3) and 9 (3A) of the Sixth Schedule to the Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by the Minister of Education, I hereby declare invalid the by-election for a parent representative for the board of trustees of Waikato Waldorf School held on 29 July 2005, and require a new by-election to be held on 13 October 2005.
