Order of the Nursing Council in Disciplinary Session in Respect of a Registered Nurse
Pursuant to sections 42 (2) (ba), 42 (3) and 48A of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand ("the council"), in a decision dated 20 June 2005, ordered that a registered nurse must practise subject to conditions.
The council also ordered that the same registered nurse pay $10,320.00 (being 35%) of the actual costs and expenses of and incidental to the inquiry by the council, and that a notice stating the effect of the orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand and the council’s newsletter, and released to accredited members of the media on request.
The council determined that neither the name of the registered nurse nor any identifying details of this case should be published as this would be an added penalty which would outweigh the degree of seriousness of the conduct and the risk to the public.
