NZ5 Banknote Acceptance Specifications

NZ5.1 Banknote Acceptance Devices – Functional Requirements (Ref NS 1.41...)

General

  1. Clause 1.41.1 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.1 All acceptance devices must be able to detect the entry of valid banknotes and tickets (where applicable) and provide a method to enable the gaming machine software to interpret and act appropriately upon a valid or invalid input.”

  2. The following clause shall be added to this section after clause 1.41.2:
    “1.41.2a The acceptance device(s) must be electronically based and be configured to ensure that it accepts only valid tickets and rejects all others.”

  3. Clause 1.41.3 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.3 All accepted banknotes and tickets are to be deposited into the secure banknote storage area.”

  4. Clause 1.41.4 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.4 All invalid or disabled banknotes and tickets are to be rejected and returned to the player.”

  5. Clause 1.41.5 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.5 An acceptance device must include a mechanism which prohibits the input of any banknotes and tickets, or alternatively, rejects all banknotes and tickets entered, during periods when the gaming machine is inoperable or deactivated for any reason.”

  6. The following clause shall be added to this section after clause 1.41.5a:
    “1.41.5b Acceptance of tickets for crediting to the credit meter must only be possible when the gaming machine is enabled for play and the CMCS or Cash Control System is online/operational in order to validate the ticket. Other states such as fault conditions and audit mode must cause the ticket to be rejected.”

Disabling Banknote / Ticket Values

  1. Clause 1.41.6 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.6 A banknote acceptor device must be implemented with a means to enable or disable particular value banknotes and tickets. The procedure for setting acceptable banknote values and ticket limits must be via a command from the CMCS or access to a secure area of the gaming machine. If permanent artwork is used to display the acceptable denominations of banknotes, the latter method which requires attending each gaming machine is preferred.”

  2. Clause 1.41.9 of this section shall be replaced by:
    “1.41.9 The gaming machine must be able to detect that a banknote or ticket jam has occurred.”

  3. The following clause shall be added to this section following clause 1.41.10:
    “1.41.10 The gaming machine must be able to detect that a banknote or ticket jam has occurred and must display an appropriate message to the player and/or operator.”
