Nurses Act 1977

Order of the Nursing Council in Disciplinary Session in Respect of a Registered Comprehensive Nurse

Pursuant to sections 42 (1) (a), 42 (2) (a), 42 (3) and 48A of the Nurses Act 1977, the Nursing Council of New Zealand (“the council”), in a decision dated 4 May 2004, ordered that the name Gary John Michael Moore, registered comprehensive nurse, be removed from the Register of Comprehensive Nurses following conviction on 23 February

2003 in the Wanganui High Court, of 11 serious sexual crimes pursuant to sections 128 (1) (a) and (b), 129 and 133 (1) (a) and (c) of the Crimes Act 1961.

Gary John Michael Moore was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.

In exercising its disciplinary powers, the council also ordered that Gary John Michael Moore pay $1,780.00 towards the costs and expenses of and incidental to the council inquiry, and that a notice stating the effect of the orders be published in the New Zealand Gazette, Kai Tiaki: Nursing New Zealand, the Nursing Review, the council’s newsletter and made available to accredited members of the media upon request.
