Area D: That part of the region north of the Opihi River, only over agricultural grain crops and green
feed paddocks and more than 200 metres from any water body.
Chukar Hunting: Chukar hunting is by permit only. Permits are available at no cost from the Fish
and Game office in Temuka.
Dorset Downs Game Preserve: That fenced area of Dorset Downs Station at Maungati near Timaru,
marked with signposts reading Dorset Downs Game Preserve.
Shooting Hours
6.45 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., except that during the period 1 June 2004 to 10 April 2005 inclusive, Canada
Goose may be hunted or killed 24 hours per day during the specified open season.
Decoy Limit
Lake Wainono and the Wainono Reserve: From opening day to the second Sunday after opening day, no
person or persons sharing a stand shall use more than 25 decoys. No decoys to be placed within 50 metres
of those placed by occupant(s) of another stand. Rest of season: No limit.
Special Conditions
No person shall wilfully leave on the hunting ground the bodies or parts of bodies of Black Swans or
other game shot in this region.
