Civil Aviation Rules—Summary of Exemptions Granted by the Director of Civil Aviation
In accordance with section 37 (3) of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, notification is hereby given that the Director of Civil Aviation has granted the following exemptions from the Civil Aviation Rule requirements:
Schedule
4/EXE/40, 4/EXE/41 and 4/EXE/42:
61.35 (a) (1) – requirement to hold a current medical certificate issued under the Act.
4/EXE/43, 4/EXE/44 and 4/EXE/45:
61.153 (a) (2) – requirement to hold a current medical certificate issued under the Act.
4/EXE/46:
61.105 (2) – requirement to hold a current medical certificate issued under the Act.
Notice of the grant, withdrawal or denial of exemptions with provisos is published in the Civil Aviation Rules Register Information Leaflet (CARRIL).
For the provisos, refer to CARRIL dated 4 March 2004.

Traffic Regulations 1976
Approval of Cornering Lamps on Motor Vehicles
Pursuant to Regulation 88 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and acting under authority delegated to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety, I, Brent Ronald Blann, Technical Support Manager, hereby approve auxiliary lamps of the type specified in Schedule 1 of this notice, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 2 of this notice.
Schedule 1
Cornering lamps in the form of steadily burning lamps used to supplement the vehicle’s headlamps by providing illumination in the direction towards which the vehicle is going to turn.
Schedule 2
A motor vehicle may be fitted with two cornering lamps provided that:
(a) the lamps were fitted as original equipment by the vehicle manufacturer; and
(b) the lamps operate in accordance with vehicle manufacturer’s specifications; and
(c) the vehicle complies with one of the following approved vehicle standards:
(i) The UN/ECE Regulation No. 48: Uniform provisions concerning the approval of vehicles with regard to the installation of lighting and light-signalling devices (E/ECE324-E/ECE/TRANS/505/Rev.1/Add.47).
(ii) The Australian Design Rule 13: Installation of lighting and light-signalling devices on other than L-group vehicles.
(iii) The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108: Lamps, reflective devices and associated equipment.
This notice expires when the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Lighting (Rule 32005) comes into force.

Legal Services Act 2000
Legal Services Agency—Supreme Court Interim Listing Criteria for Providers
Pursuant to section 71 (1) of the Legal Services Act 2000, the Legal Services Agency developed and adopted Criteria for Approval as a Listed Provider in February 2003.
The Legal Services Agency now gives notice of new interim listing criteria for determining when a person may be approved to provide specified legal aid services within the Supreme Court.
The interim criteria are:
- Providers may only represent matters for which they hold a current listing approval; and
- must hold litigation level 2 or above (i.e. have four years or more litigation experience).
The interim criteria will be effective from 12 March 2004.
Before the listing criteria are finalised, the agency intends to consult with the legal community, as appropriate.
