Notice of Direction for Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager for the Board of Trustees of Matapihi School (1815)

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory manager for the Matapihi School Board of Trustees because of risks to the operation of the school.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are to be vested in the limited statutory manager:

• Employment powers of the board; and
• ensuring all areas of non-compliance and recommendations of the February 2004 Education Review Office report are actioned.

This notice takes effect the day after the date of publication.

University of Canterbury Council: Amendment to Constitution

Pursuant to section 170 of the Education Act 1989, the Associate Minister of Education (Tertiary Education) gives the following notice.

N o t i c e

1. This notice may be cited as the University of Canterbury Council Amendment Notice 2004.

2. Following a recommendation from the council of the University of Canterbury, the constitution of the council of the University of Canterbury is amended as follows:

3. Clauses 3 (i) and 3 (j) of the constitution, as contained in the University of Canterbury Notice 1990 and published in the New Zealand Gazette, are repealed and will be replaced by the following clauses:

   “3. (i) One member appointed by the University of Canterbury Council, following consultation with Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu;

   3. (j) Two members co-opted by the University of Canterbury Council;

   4. (k) Four graduates, not currently employed as permanent members of the University staff, elected by the Court of Convocation of the University of Canterbury.”

4. This notice shall come into force on 1 January 2005;

5. This notice amends the University of Canterbury Notice 1990, published in the New Zealand Gazette, 13 September 1990, No. 159, page 3353.

Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975

Bethlehem College (Attendance Dues) Notice 2004

Pursuant to section 36 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, the Minister of Education hereby gives notice approving the charging of attendance dues at Bethlehem College, Tauranga.

N o t i c e

1. This notice shall be cited as the Bethlehem College (Attendance Dues) Notice 2004.

2. The proprietor of the above-named school may enter into an agreement with parents or other persons accepting responsibility for the education of a child at the above-named school requiring them to pay attendance dues.

3. The attendance dues payable in respect of any pupil shall be $\$2,000.00 (exclusive of G.S.T.) per annum, per pupil. The level of the due will be reviewed at the end of 2006.

4. Attendance received by the proprietor shall be used for the purposes of paying for such improvements to, or for such capital works associated with, the buildings and associated facilities of the above-named integrated school as may be required or approved by the Minister of Education, pursuant to section 40 (2) of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, or for meeting debts, mortgages, liens or other charges associated with any of the land and buildings that constitute the integrated school.

Supplementary Integration Agreement

Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary integration agreement has been signed between the Minister of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the proprietor of the following school:

Rathkeale College, Masterton.

The said supplementary integration agreement was executed on 14 October 2004.

A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is available for inspection without charge by any member of the public at the local office of the Ministry of Education, Second Floor, 65 Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt.
