That the said “Margaret Watt Children’s Home”
shall be known as the “Margaret Watt Children’s
Trust” (“the trust”). -
The home at Clarkson Avenue, Wanganui, shall be
sold and the proceeds applied to establish a fund. The
fund and the income from the fund are to be applied
to children in need of care and support by the means
of awarding scholarships, making grants and to enable
such children to undertake educational programmes
or attend educational institutes to provide a higher
standard of living, with the view to them obtaining
life skills and education to develop a stable upbringing
and career opportunities. Such children to be from the
Wellington region and if there is unexpected income
this, to be applied to children from other regions within
New Zealand. -
That the trustees shall cause a record to be kept of all
of the children aided by the trust. -
The trustees shall place a plaque at St Paul’s Church,
Wanganui. -
The trustees shall have the power to vary the
administrative provisions of the trust with a 75% vote
in favour of the change at a special meeting of the
trustees called for the specific purpose of considering
such change. The trustees shall give one month’s notice
of the special meeting to the other trustees in order for
the change to be valid.

- The definition of child will be a person under the age
of 20 years as defined in the Guardianship Act 1968.
The trustees shall have power to apply the fund to
a person beyond the age of 20 years when:
(a) that person received funds from the trust as a
child to attend an institute for higher education.
The trustees shall have power to fund this person
until the completion of their study at the trustees’
discretion.
Copies of this scheme and the report of the Attorney-General thereon may be inspected, free of charge, at the
office of the Registrar of the High Court at Wanganui or
at the office of the trustee, care of Markhams, Chartered
Accountants, 249 Wicksteed Street, Wanganui.
The application has been set down for hearing in the High
Court on the 27th day of October 2004 at 9.30 a.m.
Any persons desiring to oppose the scheme is required to
give notice of his or her intention to do so to the Registrar
of the High Court at Wanganui and to D. R. Campbell at
care of Treadwell Gordon, Solicitors, Suite Eight,
Wicksteed Terrace, Wanganui, (P.O. Box 4084), and the
Attorney-General not less then seven clear days before
the above-mentioned date.
