A successor is a person who is entitled to the interests or shares of a deceased owner.

The deed of settlement requires successors to be determined as if the original owner had died intestate (without a will). Therefore, succession through being a beneficiary in a will does not apply. The children of the deceased will be included equally. This includes children who are legally adopted into the family and their successors.

Those people who are living but who have been removed from or added to the final lists have been contacted if we know your current address. If you have not been contacted, your name will be on the final list.

A copy of the final list may be inspected at any office of Te Puni Kōkiri or any Māori Land Court or at all Papatipu Marae in the South Island, and at our web site:

www.ancillaryclaims.govt.nz

Any person who wishes to object to the final list must do so in writing to the Māori Land Court, P.O. Box 2200, Christchurch, or facsimile on (03) 962 4901, by 28 April 2003.
