Animal Welfare Act 1999

Issue of Animal Welfare (Rodeos) Code of Welfare 2003 and Revocation of Deemed Code of Welfare Notice (No. 1311)

I hereby give notice that, under section 75 of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, the Animal Welfare (Rodeos) Code of Welfare 2003 is issued and comes into force on 1 January 2004.

The code of welfare is available for inspection free of charge and for purchase at the following address:

Executive Co-ordinator, Animal Welfare Group, MAF Biosecurity Authority, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, ASB Bank House, 101-103 The Terrace (P.O. Box 2526), Wellington, New Zealand.

Under sections 76 (1) and 191 (1) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, I revoke the deemed code of welfare known as the Code of Recommendations and Minimum Standards for the Welfare of Animals Used in Rodeo Events, such revocation to take effect on 1 January 2004.

Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988

Termination of Dumping Investigation: Portland Cement From Thailand

Notice is hereby given that, acting pursuant to section 11 of the Dumping and Countervailing Duties Act 1988 (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”), I have terminated a dumping investigation in respect of general purpose and high early strength (rapid hardening) Portland cement from Thailand (the “subject goods”).

These goods are described in the Notice of Initiation of Dumping Investigation of 6 June 2003 (New Zealand Gazette, 19 June 2003, No. 67, page 1806) as “General Purpose Portland Cement” imported or intended to be imported into New Zealand.

I have terminated the investigation because I am satisfied that, under section 11 (1) (b) of the Act, there is insufficient evidence that material injury to a New Zealand industry has been or is being caused or is threatened or the establishment of a New Zealand industry has been or is being materially retarded by means of the dumping or subsidisation of the goods.
