Pipfruit Growers New Zealand Incorporated

Commodity Levies (Pipfruit) Order 2000

Pipfruit growers and collection agents are advised that the levy rate for the 1 November 2003 to 31 October 2004 season has been set at 1.0 cent per kilogram of pipfruit (plus G.S.T.). This is the same rate as for the previous year.

A “grower” means the occupier of land that is used for growing trees for the production of pipfruit, from which there was harvested at least 1000 kilograms of pipfruit during the year ending with the previous 31st day of October.

Growers are responsible overall for ensuring that levies are deducted from sale payments and that the correct amounts are submitted to Pipfruit Growers New Zealand Incorporated (PGNZI).

“Collection agent” means a person or organisation whose business is or includes buying pipfruit from a grower for resale or export, or sells or exports on behalf of a grower.

A collection agent is required to deduct the levy from payments due to growers and to forward these amounts to PGNZI within 90 days of sale or export.

Growers and collection agents requiring further information, including commodity levy payment return forms, should contact the PGNZI office by telephone on (04) 499 7962, or by facsimile (04) 499 7964 or email: admin@pgnzi.co.nz

The Animal Health Board (Incorporated)

Biosecurity Act 1993

Levy on Rural Land in the Otago Region

Pursuant to the Biosecurity (Bovine Tuberculosis-Otago Land Levy) Order 1998 made under the Biosecurity Act 1993, a levy is payable to The Animal Health Board (Incorporated) by the occupiers of all rural landholdings four hectares or more in area in the Otago Region.

The purpose of the levy is to partially fund Tb vector control operations in Otago under the National Bovine Tuberculosis Pest Management Strategy.

For the 2003/2004 financial year, the levy is payable at the following rates (G.S.T. exclusive):

  • 0.017% of capital value for property within a Regional Vector Control zone.
  • 0.017% of capital value for property within a National Vector Control zone.
  • 0.017% of capital value for property which is not within either a Regional or National Vector Control zone.

These rates are lower than the maximum rates provided for in legislation.

For the purpose of calculating the levies payable, no property shall be valued at more than $10,000.00 per hectare.

Land occupiers will be invoiced by the Animal Health Board for levies payable on or after 7 February 2004.

The due date for payment of levies is 31 March 2004.

JOHN DALZIELL, Chairman, Animal Health Board.
