WELLINGTON FISH AND GAME REGION

  1. DEFINITIONS

Refer to the First Schedule.

  1. OPEN SEASON

2.1 The following waters are open all year (1 October to 30 September in the year following):

All Coastal dune lakes.
Henley Lake (Masterton).
Hokowhitu Lagoon.
Hutt River.
Kawhatau River.
Lake Wairarapa.
Makakahi River, downstream from the road bridge at Eketahuna.
Manawatu River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatewainui Stream.
Mangahao River downstream from Marima Reserve Bridge.
Mangaone River (a tributary of the Tiraumea River).
Mangatainoka River downstream from the junction with the Makakahi River.
Moawhango River.
Ohau River.
Oroua River downstream of the Ruahine Forest Park boundary.
Otaki River downstream of the Tararua Forest Park boundary.
Pohangina River.
Porirua Lakes.
Rangitikei River downstream from the Matawhero Road bridge (commonly called the Mangaohane Bridge).
Ruamahunga River downstream of the Tararua Forest Park boundary.
Tauherenikau River downstream of the Tararua Forest Park boundary.
Tiraumea River.
Upper Kourarau Dam (except all inflowing streams).
Waingawa River downstream of the Tararura Forest Park boundary.
Waiohine River downstream of the Tararua Forest Park boundary.
Whitby Lakes.

2.2 All other waters in the region are open for fishing from 1 October to 30 April in the year following.

  1. FLY FISHING AND SPINNER ONLY WATERS

3.1 The following waters are restricted to fly fishing only:

Hautapu, upstream of the road bridge numbered 741/10.96 on State Highway No. 1 by the Taihape Golf Club.
Kopuaranga.
Makuri, above the township bridge.
Mangatoro.
