Explanatory Note:
This note is not part of the bylaw, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This bylaw—
Revokes Transit New Zealand Bylaws that have application to sections of roads which, in part, are no longer appropriate for various reasons. Those parts of the bylaws that are still relevant will be retained in new bylaws to take effect from the date that this bylaw takes effect.

Bylaw Concerning the Stopping and Parking of Vehicles on State Highways: Transit New Zealand Regions 1 and 2

Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand makes the following bylaw.

Bylaw

  1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as Transit New Zealand Bylaw (Stopping and Parking of Vehicles on State Highways) 2002/3 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. Interpretation—In this bylaw:
    “Motor vehicle” has the meaning assigned to it in section 2 (1) of the Transport Act 1962.

  3. Prohibiting stopping and parking of vehicles—The stopping and parking of motor vehicles is prohibited on the sections of State highway described in the printed and bound Schedule held in the office of the Regional Manager, Transit New Zealand, Auckland, and in the Highway Management Division of Transit New Zealand Head Office, Wellington, and there available for public inspection.

This bylaw was made by resolution passed at a meeting of the Transit New Zealand Authority held in Wellington on 3 April 2002.
