District Courts Act 1947

Acting District Court Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 10A of the District Courts Act 1947,
Her Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased
to appoint

Patrick Jerome Toomey, retired District Court Judge

to be an Acting District Court Judge, to exercise civil and
criminal jurisdiction in New Zealand, at such place or places
and for such period or periods only as the Chief District
Court Judge may fix, pursuant to the said section 10A of
the District Courts Act 1947, for a term of 2 years on and
from 1 April 2002.

Civil Aviation Act 1990

Notice of Making Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Notice 2002

Pursuant to section 27Q of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, the
Minister of Transport has issued the Aviation Medical
Transitional Criteria Notice 2002, establishing transitional
criteria for the issue of aviation documents to medical
examiners and the delegation to medical examiners of the
power to issue medical certificates.

The transitional criteria cover the following matters:

• Classification of medical examiners.
• Term for which a medical examiner certificate may be
  issued.
• Selection criteria for medical examiner certificates.
• Term for which a delegation may be issued.
• Qualifications for the grant of delegations.
• Criteria for standard medical assessments.

The Aviation Medical Transitional Criteria Notice 2002
applies in respect of the period commencing on 1 April
2002 and ending with the earlier of the following:

(a) The commencement of the civil aviation rules
referred to in section 27Q (2) and (3) of the Civil
Aviation Act; or
(b) the close of 31 March 2005.
