Electoral District and Nature of Objection

N35 Napier

N35 001 b Objection H J Hatton

Objects to the inclusion of Karamu High School in the proposed electorate. During the 1999 General Election, the school was in the Napier electorate, but issued no votes for this electorate.

Suggested solution To correct this anomaly, the boundary could be repositioned across a line drawn to include Beatson Street, parallel to Windsor Avenue, thus effectively including Riverslea School and Karamu High School within the Tukituki electorate.

N35 002 b Objection E F & J M Hill and 8 others

Objects to the area bounded by the Hastings/Napier expressway, Evenden Road, Percival Road and Lyndhurst Road being included in the proposed Napier electorate as its community of interest lies with the Tukituki electorate.

Suggested solution Continue the boundary along the expressway without deviation.

N36 Tukituki

N36 001 b, h Objection K J Rose

Objects to the proposed division of the Heretaunga Ward of Hastings District Council being between Tukituki and Napier on the grounds of community of interest.

Suggested solution Include all of Heretaunga in the proposed Tukituki electorate. Tukituki could transfer some of its southern population to the proposed Wairarapa electorate. (See also N34/040)

N36 002 b, h Objection D Hyde

Similar to N36/001

Suggested solution Similar to N36/001

N36 003 b Objection B P Fullarton-Smith

Similar to N36/001

Suggested solution Similar to N36/001

N37 Wairarapa

N37 001 n, h Objection K J Rose

Objects to the use of the name 'Wairarapa' for the proposed electorate on the grounds of geography, as it now includes part of Hawke’s Bay.

Suggested solution Change the name to 'Puketoi' – the mountain range that runs through southern Hawke’s Bay and Northern Wairarapa.
