on 21 August 2002 at the Tauranga District Court, Louis

Education Act 1989

Notice of Appointment of a Limited Statutory Manager at Homai National School for the Blind and Vision Impaired

Pursuant to section 78M of the Education Act 1989, I direct
the Secretary for Education to appoint a limited statutory
manager to Homai National School for the Blind and
Vision Impaired to address financial, health and safety,
and curriculum issues.

The following functions, powers and duties of the board are
vested in the limited statutory manager:

• Curriculum management in relation to the education programme;
• financial management relating to the signing the Memorandum of Understanding;
• personnel management in relation to performance management systems; and
• strategic vision as a national school for blind and vision impaired.

The limited statutory manager must also:

• provide mentoring and support for the board of trustees; and
• co-ordinate the board’s involvement in a project to review State special residential schools in the Auckland area.
