Acting Judge of High Court Appointed
Pursuant to section 11A of the Judicature Act 1908,
Her Excellency the Governor-General, in the name and
on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, has been pleased
to appoint
The Honourable Robert Philip Smellie
to be an acting Judge of the High Court for a term of 1 year
commencing on 20 August 2001, a certificate having been
signed by the Chief Justice and 3 other permanent Judges of
the High Court that in their opinion it is necessary for the
due conduct of the business of the Court that an acting
Judge be appointed.

Education Act 1989
Christchurch Polytechnic—Change of Name
Pursuant to section 162 (5) of the Education Act 1989, and
following a recommendation from the Council of
Christchurch Polytechnic, I hereby change the name of that
institution to:
Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.
This notice shall come into force on the day after its
publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

The Naenae College Board of Trustees Student
Election Extension Notice
Pursuant to clause 9 (2) of the Sixth Schedule to the
Education Act 1989, and acting with authority delegated by
the Minister of Education, I hereby extend the closing date
for receiving nominations and the closing date for voting,
and all subsequent actions, in accordance with the Education
(School Trustee Elections) Regulations 2000, for the
election of the student representative for the Naenae College
Board of Trustees.
The closing date for receiving nominations will be
21 September 2001 and voting for the election will close on
16 October 2001.
This notice takes effect the day after its notification in the
New Zealand Gazette.

Dissolution of Board of Trustees and Appointment
of Commissioner at Avon School, Stratford (2153)
Acting under delegated authority, pursuant to section
106 (1) (aa) of the Education Act 1989, for the reason that
so many casual vacancies have arisen that there is no longer
any member of the board who is eligible to preside at
meetings of the board, I hereby dissolve The Avon School
Board of Trustees and appoint John Staddon as
Commissioner to act in its place.
This notice shall take effect the day after its publication.

Supplementary Integration Agreement
Pursuant to section 10 of the Private Schools Conditional
Integration Act 1975, notice is given that a supplementary
integration agreement has been signed between the Minister
of Education on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen, acting
through the Senior Manager, National Operations, Ministry
of Education, pursuant to delegated authority, and the
proprietor of the following school:
St Dominic’s School, Blockhouse Bay.
The said supplementary integration agreement was executed
on 16 August 2001.
A copy of the supplementary integration agreement is
available for inspection without charge by any member of
the public at the regional office of the Ministry of
Education, 39-45 College Hill, Ponsonby, Auckland.
