No licence holder shall fish any water into which any ground bait, berley or other fish attractant has been placed.

5. FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS

No restrictions

6. BAIT FISHING

Bait fishing is allowed in the following waters:

  • Lake Te Pohue
  • Karamu Stream

7. DAILY BAG LIMITS

7.1 Catch and Release Only Waters

Any sports fish caught in the following waters must be released immediately back into the waters from which it was taken with as little injury as possible:

Ngaruroro River above the Kiwi Creek junction, including tributaries

7.2 Other Waters

Waters Limits
The larger of the two lakes known as Twin Lakes, Kuripapango No limit
Esk River, including tributaries 1 sportsfish
Mohaka River Tributaries 1 sportsfish
Ngaruroro River between the Whanawhana cable and the Kiwi Creek junction, including tributaries 1 sportsfish
Mohaka River below the State Highway 5 bridge, excluding tributaries 4 sportsfish
Blue Lake 4 sportsfish
Kuripapango West Lake 4 sportsfish
Opouahi Lake 4 sportsfish
Orakai Lake 4 sportsfish
Te Pohue Lake 4 sportsfish
Tutira and Waikopiro Lake except Sandy Creek and Outlet Channel 4 sportsfish
All other waters (including tributaries, rivers and lakes) 2 sportsfish

8. FISH LENGTH

Waters Limits
Esk River above the Ellis Wallace Road bridge, including tributaries 550mm maximum
Ngaruroro River above the Whanawhana cable, including tributaries 550mm maximum
Tuaruarau River including tributaries 550mm maximum
Lakes Tutira and Waikopiro 350mm minimum
All other waters No minimum size length
