HAWKE’S BAY FISH AND GAME REGION

  1. INTERPRETATION

"Fly Fishing" in the Hawke’s Bay region means to fish for sports fish with fly rod, fly line and artificial fly, and with no additional weight to facilitate casting.

The Tuki Tuki River downstream from the SH50 road bridge, excluding tributaries All year
The Ngaruroro River downstream from its confluence with the Tutaekuri River, excluding tributaries All year
The Tutaekuri River downstream from its confluence with the Mangaone Stream, excluding tributaries All year
The Waipawa River downstream from the State Highway 2 bridge, excluding tributaries All year
The Porangahau River downstream from its confluence with the Mangamaire Stream, excluding tributaries All year
The Karamu Stream, excluding tributaries All year
The Mohaka River downstream from its confluence with the Mangatainoka River, excluding tributaries All year
The Waipunga River downstream from the falls, excluding tributaries All year
All lakes of the region All year
All other waters 1 October - 30 April
  1. AUTHORISED TACKLE

No licence holder, when fishing for sportsfish, shall use:

3.1 Any bait or lure treated with any chemical preparation other than that used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly.

3.2 Any lure having more than one hook or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks.
