2.2 The closed waters restrictions in Section 2.1 of this Schedule do not apply to the following waters:
- Mangawhio Stream and tributaries
- Pokaiwhenua Stream and tributaries
- Waipa Stream and tributaries
- Waikato River
- Waipapa River and tributaries
- AUTHORISED TACKLE
No licence holder when fishing for sports fish in the Auckland/Waikato Fish & Game Region shall use:
3.1 More than two lures.
3.2 Any lure having more than one hook or having a multiple hook, or any fixed assembly of hooks.
3.3 Any hook which has a gape greater than 14mm between the point and the nearest part of the shank.
3.4 Any lure treated with any medicinal or chemical preparation other than a flotation preparation used solely to give buoyancy to an artificial fly.
3.5 Any lead or weight (other than hooks as permitted elsewhere in this notice) attached below or as to hang below any lure or bait.
3.6 As a bait any fish taken from any water other than in which it is being used as a bait.
3.7 Such restrictions in Sections 3.1 to 3.6 should apply notwithstanding any other restrictions, limitation or indulgence or licence granted by this Schedule.
- VESSEL FISHING RESTRICTIONS
4.1 No licence holder shall fish for sports fish from any vessel in that part of the Waikato River between the Arapuni Dam and the upper limits of Lake Karapiro (as shown by the white marker post, situated 200 metres below the Huihuitaha Stream mouth) unless that vessel is securely anchored at all material times.
- ARTIFICIAL FLY FISHING ONLY WATERS
5.1 Artificial fly fishing in the Auckland/Waikato Region means to fish for sports fish with fly rod and fly reel and fly line and artificial fly, but with no additional weight to facilitate casting.
5.2 Artificial fly fishing is the only fishing method for sports fish allowed in the following waters and their tributaries:
- Awakino River from its source to the Mahoenui Bridge
- Hikutaia River from its source to the ford on the old Whangamata Track
- Kakahu Stream (north-east of Okoroire)
- Kaniwhaniwha Stream
