District Courts Act 1947

District Court and Environment Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 5 of the District Courts Act 1947, and section 250 of the Resource Management Act 1991, Her Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint

Laurence John Newhook, barrister and solicitor of Auckland

to be a District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within New Zealand and to be an Environment Judge of the Environment Court.

Employment Relations Act 2000

Department of Labour, Employment Relations Service—Employment Relations Education Leave: Approved Courses

Under section 72 (3) of the Employment Relations Act 2000, the Minister of Labour has delegated the power to approve courses for Employment Relations Education Leave to the Employment Relations Education Advisory Committee.

The effect of this is that under section 73 of the Employment Relations Act, a union is entitled to allocate employment relations education leave to eligible employees, in accordance with sections 74 to 77 of the Act, to attend these courses.
