Te Puna Roimata Peak 77°27’S, 167°34’E. A peak (approximately 890 metres) located 2.41 kilometres west of Terra Nova Glacier and 3.22 kilometres south of Lewis Bay on the lower north-east slope of Mount Erebus, Ross Island. Named to mark the site of the Air New Zealand DC 10 plane (flight 901) that crashed in 1979 near this peak. Te Puna Roimata means spring of tears.
Coleman Peak
77°29’S, 167°29’E. A peak rising to approximately 1600 metres on the north-east slope of Mount Erebus, Ross Island, 5.79 kilometres east of the summit of Fang Ridge.
Millennium Peak
77°30’S, 167°27’E. A peak rising to approximately 1800 metres on the north-east slope of Mount Erebus, Ross Island, 6.44 kilometres east north-east of the Erebus summit.
Oamaru Peak
77°28’S, 167°54’E. A peak 3.22 kilometres north of Mount Terra Nova on Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 1000 metres, 1.61 kilometres north of Caldwell Peak.
Caldwell Peak
77°29’S, 167°54’E. A peak 1.61 kilometres north of Mount Terra Nova on Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 1300 metres, 1.61 kilometres south of Oamaru Peak.
Joyce Peak
77°28’S, 168°12’E. A peak rising to over 1400 metres in the north central part of Ross Island. It stands west of the main summits of Giggenbach Ridge and 8.53 kilometres south-east of Wyandot Point.
Giggenbach Ridge
77°28’S, 168°20’E. A north-south chain of summits, 8.05 kilometres long, located to the west north-west of Mount Terror on Ross Island. The ridge rises to approximately 2400 metres west of Mount Terror but descends to 1320 metres at the north end.
Barker Peak
77°30’S, 168°18’E. A peak 5.79 kilometres west north-west of Mount Terror on Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 2200 metres and is the western of two peaks near the south end of Giggenbach Ridge.
Kristin Peak
77°26’S, 168°19’E. A peak rising to over 1300 metres at the north end of Giggenbach Ridge on Ross Island. The feature is 7.24 kilometres south of Cape Tennyson.
Manahan Peak
77°29’S, 168°26’E. A prominent peak 1.61 kilometres east of Giggenbach Ridge in north-east Ross Island. The peak rises to over 2000 metres, 4.18 kilometres north-west of the summit of Mount Terror.
Mount Sutherland
77°30’S, 168°28’E. A peak 2.25 kilometres west north-west of the summit of Mount Terror on Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 2500 metres.
Moore Peak
77°31’S, 168°27’E. A peak rising to approximately 2500 metres on the west slope of Mount Terror, Ross Island. The peak is 2.57 kilometres west south-west of the summit of Mount Terror and 1.61 kilometres south of Mount Sutherland.
Kienle Nunataks
77°28’S, 168°36’E. Three aligned nunataks to the north of Mount Terror in north-east Ross Island. The nunataks trend east-west for 1.61 kilometres and rise to approximately 1700 metres. The central nunatak is 4.02 kilometres north north-east of the Mount Terror summit.
Ohau Peak
77°30’S, 168°42’E. A sharp rock peak 3.06 kilometres north-east of the summit of Mount Terror on Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 2400 metres and is central in three aligned summits 1.29 kilometres north of Mount McIntosh.
Mount McIntosh
77°31’S, 168°41’E. A mountain rising to approximately 2600 metres in the west part of Kyle Hills, Ross Island. It stands at the north-west end of Lofty Promenade, 2.41 kilometres east of the summit of Mount Terror. The mountain is conspicuous because of diagonal bands of rock and ice on the north face.
Tekapo Ridge
77°30’S, 168°52’E. A crescent-shaped chain of low peaks 1.61 kilometres long in Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The ridge descends south-west/north-east from Scanniello Peak (approximately 2200 metres) to Parawera Cone (approximately 1300 metres).
Parawera Cone
77°29’S, 168°59’E. A cone rising to approximately 1300 metres at the north-east end of Tekapo Ridge in Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The cone is 1.61 kilometres north-west of Ainley Peak. Parawera means cold, dry south wind.
Mount Melton
77°31’S, 168°52’E. A squarish mountain 2.09 kilometres west of Tent Peak in Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The feature rises to approximately 2000 metres on the north side of Lofty Promenade.
Lofty Promenade
77°31’S, 168°52’E. An inclined glacial course, 11.27 kilometres long and 1.61 kilometres wide, in the east part of Ross Island. The feature is partly framed between the south elements of the Kyle Hills and Guardrail Ridge, as it descends east south-east from 2600 metres near Mount Terror to 200 metres near Allen Rocks. The glacial surface is relatively smooth and affords an unobstructed route between the Cape Crozier area and Mount Terror.
Guardrail Ridge
77°32’S, 168°50’E. A ridge 3.22 kilometres long located 3.22 kilometres west south-west of The Tooth in the Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The ridge rises to 2200 metres at Sherve Peak.
Sherve Peak
77°31’S, 168°46’E. A peak rising to 2200 metres in the west part of Guardrail Ridge in Kyle Hills, Ross Island.
Coughran Peak
77°32’S, 168°53’E. A peak rising to approximately 1700 metres at the east end of Guardrail Ridge in Kyle Hills, Ross Island.
Lutz Hill
77°32’S, 169°02’E. A hill rising to approximately 1000 metres, 1.61 kilometres south-east of The Tooth in Kyle Hills, Ross Island.
Panter Ridge
77°33’S, 169°03’E. A solitary ridge 0.80 kilometres long in the south part of Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The feature rises to 800 metres between Slattery Peak and Detrick Peak.
Detrick Peak
77°32’S, 169°06’E. A sharp peak, approximately 700 metres, standing 1.61 kilometres east south-east of Lutz Hill in the Kyle Hills, Ross Island.
Allen Rocks
77°33’S, 169°09’E. A small but distinctive group of rocks 3.54 kilometres east north-east of Slattery Peak in Kyle Hills, Ross Island. The feature includes a central nunatak that in outline resembles the letter “a”. A low ridge encloses the nunatak except on the south.
