✨ Game Hunting Regulations

No person shall have in possession on any one day, more than:

Saturday 5 May 2001: The number of game birds specified as the daily bag limit for the Fish and Game Region in which the game is taken.

Sunday 6 May 2001: Twice the number of game birds specified for Saturday 5 May 2001.

Every subsequent day: The number of game birds specified as the daily bag limit for the Fish and Game Region in which the game is taken.

Waiver of Restrictions on Baiting, and Methods of Taking Game Baiting for Waterfowl

Persons⁴ may hunt or kill game of the family Anatidae (waterfowl) during the open season for game in all Fish and Game Regions where food has been cast, thrown, placed or planted, either during the current open season for game, the thirty (30) days immediately prior to the season or any other time during the year.

Magazine Shotguns – unpinned magazine shotguns to manufacturer’s specifications can be used in all regions

Persons⁵ may hunt or kill game birds, as specified, in all Fish and Game Regions with any shotgun of a calibre 12 gauge or less, having a magazine to manufacturer’s specifications, of any type not adjusted in accordance with regulations made under this Act, and capable of holding more than one shell.

Shotgun Calibre – Auckland/Waikato Region – Canada Goose only

Persons⁶ may hunt or kill Canada geese within the Auckland/Waikato Fish and Game Region with any shotgun of a calibre 10 gauge or less having a magazine of any type adjusted in accordance with regulations made under this Act, and capable of holding more than one shell, during the following periods:

6.30 a.m. 1 June 2001 to 6.30 p.m. 10 June 2001
6.30 a.m. 1 July 2001 to 6.30 p.m. 10 July 2001

Camouflaged Rowboats

Persons⁷ may hunt or kill game within the following Fish and Game Regions, from unmoored camouflaged rowboats, subject to the conditions specified below.
