Radiation Protection Regulations 1982

Adoption of Regulations for the Safe Transport of

Radioactive Materials 1996

Notice

  1. Pursuant to Regulation 2 (3) of the Radiation Protection
    Regulations 1982, I, Annette King, Minister of Health,
    subject to the modification specified in clause 2 of this
    notice, hereby adopt for the purposes of the Radiation
    Protection Regulations 1982, the Regulations for the
    Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials 1996 (Revised),
    published by the International Atomic Energy Agency in
    Vienna.

  2. Paragraph 570 of the Regulations for the Safe Transport
    of Radioactive Materials 1996 (Revised) is, for the purposes
    of the Radiation Protection Regulations 1982, hereby
    modified by adding the words “or alternatively in the front
    or rear in the case of such a vehicle” to the end of
    subparagraph (b) of that paragraph.

  3. The notice issued under the Radiation Protection
    Regulations 1982 on 26 August 1996 and published in the
    New Zealand Gazette on 5 September 1996 at page 2749 is
    hereby revoked.

  4. This notice shall come into effect on 1 July 2001.

Explanatory Note:

This notice adopts the International Atomic Energy Agency
Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials
1996. The notice also changes the requirements relating
to placarding of vehicles carrying radioactive materials.
The requirements now match the placarding requirements
for the transport of other classes of dangerous goods within
New Zealand.

Civil Aviation Act 1990

Notice of Variation of a Scheduled International

Air Service Licence

Pursuant to the Civil Aviation Act 1990, the State Sector
Act 1988, and a delegation from the Secretary for Transport
dated 29 March 2000, I give notice that John Gibson
Bradbury, Deputy Secretary Air Services in the Ministry
of Transport, has exercised the power conferred by section
87Q of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, to vary the terms of
the Scheduled International Air Service Licence issued to
Air Tahiti Nui to:

(i) permit services over the routing, “Papeete to
Auckland and, optionally, beyond to Sydney”;

(ii) add capacity of 2 code-share services per week, as
the marketing carrier, between Papeete and
Auckland, and 3 code-share services per week, as
the marketing carrier, between Auckland and
Sydney; and

(iii) permit 3rd-country code-sharing on the routes the
carrier is licensed to operate.

This variation took effect on 12 March 2001.

Notice of Variation of a Scheduled International

Air Service Licence

Pursuant to the Civil Aviation Act 1990, the State Sector
Act 1988, and a delegation from the Secretary for Transport
dated 29 March 2000, I, John Gibson Bradbury, Deputy
Secretary Air Services in the Ministry of Transport, hereby
give notice that I have exercised the power conferred by
section 87Q of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, to vary the
terms of the Scheduled International Air Service Licence
issued to Qantas Airways Limited to:

(i) remove the capacity restriction of the equivalent of
10 B747 services on services operated beyond
New Zealand;

(ii) permit the operation of all-cargo services from
points in New Zealand to any point or points
excluding Australia; and

(iii) remove the requirement that tariffs for carriage on
services beyond New Zealand be approved.

This variation will take effect on 20 March 2001.
