Pumicelands Rural Fire District Constitution and Administration Notice 2000
Pursuant to sections 4 (1) and section 8 (1) of the Forest and
Rural Fires Act 1977, the National Rural Fire Authority
hereby makes the following notice.
Notice
- Title and commencement—(1) This notice is the
Pumicelands Rural Fire District Constitution and
Administration Notice 2001.
(2) This notice comes into force on 1 November 2001.

Constitution of the Pumicelands Rural Fire
District—The areas set out in the Schedule to this notice are
hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to
be known as the Pumicelands Rural Fire District. -
Constitution of the Pumicelands Rural Fire
Committee—The Pumicelands Rural Fire Committee is
hereby constituted as a rural fire committee. -
Administration of the Pumicelands Rural Fire
District—(1) For the purposes of the Forest and Rural Fires
Act 1977, the Pumicelands Rural Fire District shall be
administered by the Pumicelands Rural Fire Committee.
(2) The committee shall consist of 10 members as follows:
(a) Three persons appointed in writing by Fletcher
Challenge Forests Limited, under the signature of its
Chief Executive; and
(b) three persons appointed in writing by Carter Holt
Harvey Forests Limited, under the signature of its
Chief Executive; and
(c) one person appointed in writing by the Department
of Conservation under the signature of its Director
General; and
(d) one person appointed in writing by the National
President of the New Zealand Farm Forestry
Association after such consultation as the National
President considers appropriate; and
(e) one person appointed in writing by the Chief
Executives of Otorohanga District Council, Western
Bay of Plenty District Council, South Waikato
District Council, Rotorua District Council, Taupo
District Council, Whakatane District Council,
Opotiki District Council, Gisborne District Council,
after such consultation as the Chief Executives
consider appropriate; and
(f) one person appointed by the New Zealand Fire
Service under the signature of its Chief Executive.
(3) In the event that any appointment to be made under
4 (2) (e) is not carried out within 3 months of the date by
which the appointment should be made, then the National
Rural Fire Officer may appoint to the committee some fit
person who shall represent the interests of the District
Councils described in 4 (2) (e).
Schedule
South Auckland and Gisborne Land Districts—Gisborne,
Opotiki, Western Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo,
Whakatane, Kawerau and Gisborne Land Districts
(1) All those parcels containing 618,200 hectares, more or
less, as shown on S.O. 60692 (S.O. 8852 GIS) lodged in the
office of the Chief Surveyor, South Auckland and Gisborne
(for ease of reference that land is also shown on plans
numbered NRFA 133 deposited in the Corporate Office of
the New Zealand Fire Service at Wellington).
(2) All those areas in the South Auckland Land District, and
Otorohanga District Council, South Waikato District
Council, Rotorua District Council, Taupo District Council,
containing approximately 116,000 hectares of plantation
forest and described generally as follows:
“Firstly”: All that area situated in Patetere North, Patetere
Northeast, Rotorua, Wharepapa, Patetere South,
Horohoro West, Horohoro, Ngautuku, Ranginui,
Whakamaru, Atiamuri, Ngongotaha, Tuhingamata West,
Tuhingamata East and Tatua Survey Districts, bounded
by a line commencing at a point being the easternmost
corner of part Kokako Block, in Block XVI, Patetere
North Survey District, and proceeding thence
north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of that
block to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3,
D.P. 32267, thence north-easterly along that boundary
and its production to the centre line of Te Whetu Road,
thence generally north-westerly along the centre lines of
Te Whetu and Ngatira Roads to the right bank of the
Oraka Stream, thence generally north-westerly along that
bank to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of
Lot 9, D.P. 19039, in Block XI, Patetere North Survey
District, thence south-westerly to and along that
boundary and its production to the centre line of
Pinedale Loop Road, thence generally north-westerly
and north-easterly along the centre lines of Pinedale
Loop Road, State Highway No. 1, Domain Road, the
Rotorua Branch Railway, to a point opposite the
north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. S. 44106, Block
XI, Patetere North Survey District, thence north-easterly
to and along the north-western boundary of part Section
2, Block XII, Patetere North Survey District, to its
intersection with Section 18, Block VIII, Patetere North
Survey District, thence north-westerly along the western
boundaries of Sections 18 and 19 and the production
of thereof to the right bank of the Waihou River, thence
generally north-westerly along that bank to a point in
line with the north-western boundary of Section 8,
Block VIII, Patetere North Survey District, thence
north-easterly to and along that boundary and its
production to the centreline of Leslie Road, thence
easterly along that centre line to a point in line with the
south-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 29456 in Block
VII, Patetere North Survey District, thence north-easterly
to and along that boundary and its production to the
centreline of Leslie Road, thence easterly along that
centre line to a point in line with the south-eastern
boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 29456 in Block VII, Patetere
North Survey District, thence north-easterly to and along
that boundary to the south-western boundary of Whaiti
Kuranui 2A2B5B Block, thence south-easterly along
that boundary to and south-easterly, north-easterly and
north-westerly along the south-western, south-eastern
and north-eastern boundaries of Wahiti Kuranui
2A2B5A Block to the westernmost corner of Wahiti
Kuranui 2E2 West 4D2A Block, thence north-easterly
along the north-western boundaries of Wahiti Kuranui
2E2 West 4D2A, part 2E2 West 4, 2E2 West 4B and part
2C Blocks and part Lot 1, D.P. 654 and the last
mentioned boundary produced to the centre line of State
Highway No. 5 in Block IV, Patetere North Survey
District, thence generally south-easterly along that centre
line to a point in line with the western boundary of
Section 7, Block IX, Rotorua Survey District, thence
southerly to and along that boundary and the western
boundaries of Sections 4, part 3, 3C and 3A, Block IX
aforesaid, and their production to the centreline of
Clinkard Road, thence generally south-easterly along
