Land Transport Rules

In accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, the Minister of Transport gives notice of his intention to make a rule concerning vehicle emissions, and advises that draft Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Emissions is available for public comment.

This draft legislation is intended to put in place a vehicle emissions standards regime for motor vehicles to ensure that all future entrants to the New Zealand vehicle fleet are manufactured to international exhaust emissions standards.

A copy of the draft rule may be obtained by telephoning the Ministry of Transport on (04) 472 1253 or by emailing to emissionsrule@transport.govt.nz

The draft rule can be accessed on the Ministry of Transport’s web site at www.transport.govt.nz and is available for viewing at any office of the Ministry of Transport or of the Land Transport Safety Authority.

A copy of the draft rule has been made available to groups and individuals who have registered an interest in the rule.
