SIRE OFFICIAL INDICATOR:
Type Text Length 1
Code showing extent to which it has been possible to confirm the sire of the animal. Values 7, 8 and 9 indicate official acceptance of the sire.

The sire validation section of the Database system checks recorded matings against the calving date and dam recorded for each calf, and subsequently records a code indicating the validation status of the sire of the calf.

Only codes 5, 6, 7 and 8 may be entered. All other codes are internally generated. Where no matings are recorded prior to the birth of the calf, only codes 5 or 6 may be entered.

0 No mating dates recorded
2 Check to mating dates indicates 2 or more possible sires
4 Check to mating dates indicates none of those recorded is likely to give birth date
5 Abnormal calving prevents check on mating dates
6 Manually checked, not 100% official
7 Details checked and sire cannot be confirmed
8 Blood type indicates that sire is possible
9 Evidence from field indicates that sire is possible
