  1. Dart River Jet Safaris Limited is exempt, from the date of this notice until 1 November 2000, from the requirement in rule 80.6 (1) (a) and Appendix 1, 2.6 (a) to have fitted 2 submerged electric pumps of at least 4400 litres per hour capacity in the jet boats that are operated by that company, provided that existing electric pumps of at least 3,337 litres per hour capacity remain fitted and functioning correctly.

  2. Shotover Jet Limited is exempt from the requirement in rule 80.6 (1) (a) and Appendix 1, 8.3 (c) to have a safety briefing card on any boat operated by that company that is readily available to any passenger who may have difficulty in understanding a verbal briefing, provided that fixed signs are in place on such boats providing safety briefing information to any passenger who may have difficulty in understanding a verbal briefing.

Declaring Land to be Held for Conservation Purposes

Under to section 7 (1A) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Community Relations Manager of the Otago Conservancy of the Department of Conservation declares that the land described in the Schedule is held for conservation purposes.

Notice of Disposal of Stewardship Area

Under section 26 (5) of the Conservation Act 1987, the Community Relations Manager of the Otago Conservancy of the Department of Conservation gives notice of the disposal in fee-simple of the land described in the Schedule for a consideration of $5,000.00.

Transit New Zealand Act 1989

Amending a Notice Declaring Limited Access Road—State Highway No. 1—Temuka Bypass

Pursuant to section 88 (1) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby amends the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette dated 18 May 1995, declaring the Temuka Bypass section of State Highway No. 1 to be limited access road.

Amendment

Delete “the northern abutment of the Temuka River Bridge (RP 481/7.75)” and replace with “a point (RP 481/7.415) on the eastern side of the State highway, 325 metres generally north of the northern abutment of the Temuka River Bridge and, on the western side of the State highway, a point (RP 418/7.418), 322 metres generally north of the northern abutment of the Temuka River Bridge.”

Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998

Revocation of the Reservation Over a Reserve and Vesting of the Fee Simple Estate in Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu

Under the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998, the Acting Conservator of the Canterbury Conservancy, Department of Conservation, hereby declares that the reservation as a river protection reserve over the land, described in the Schedule, is revoked and that the fee simple estate in the land is vested in Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu.

22.7211 hectares, being part Reserve 959. All New Zealand Gazette 1949, page 853. S.O. 19835/2.
