AMENDMENTS TO SCHEDULE 2 OF THE CHILDCARE ASSISTANCE WELFARE PROGRAMME

Explanatory Note:
This note is not part of the amendments, but is intended to explain their general effect.

This amendment increases certain rates of the childcare subsidy and the Out of School Care and Recreation (OSCAR) subsidy under the Childcare Assistance Welfare Programme to take into account a CPI increase of 0.51%. The increases come into effect on 1 April 2000.

Special Needs Grant Programme Amendment (No. 7)

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Steve Maharey, Minister of Social Services and Employment, establish and approve the following amendments to the Special Needs Grant welfare programme (as established and approved on 18 December 1998), which are to be read with and considered part of the programme on and from 1 April 2000.

Amendments

1. Clause 9.7 (c) of the programme is amended by inserting, after the words “under section 69C of the Act”, the words “or any payment under the Disability Assistance Programme under section 124 (1) (d) of the Act”.

2. Clause 11.4.6.1 (c) of the programme is amended by inserting, after the words “disability allowance under the Act”, the words “or any payment under the Disability Assistance Programme under section 124 (1) (d) of the Act”.

Telephone Costs Payment Amendment (No. 1)

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Steve Maharey, Minister of Social Services and Employment, establish and approve the following amendments to the Telephone Costs Payment welfare programme (as established and approved on 28 March 1999), which are to be read with and considered part of the programme on and from 1 April 2000.

Amendments

1. Clause 6.1 of the programme is amended by inserting, after the words “continues to receive a Disability Allowance”, the words “or a payment under the Disability Assistance Programme”.

Disability Assistance Programme under section 124 (1) (d) of the Act

2. Clause 7.2 (a) of the programme is amended by inserting, after the words “section 69C (2A) (a) of the Act”, the words “or ceases to be eligible to receive a payment under the Disability Assistance Programme”.

Recoverable Assistance for Non-Beneficiaries Programme Amendment (No. 2)

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Steve Maharey, Minister of Social Services and Employment, establish and approve the following amendment to the Recoverable Assistance welfare programme (as established and approved on 15 February 1999), which is to be read with and considered part of the programme on and from 1 April 2000.

Training Incentive Allowance Programme Amendment (No. 2)

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Steve Maharey, Minister of Social Services and Employment, establish and approve the following amendments to the Training Incentive Allowance welfare programme (as established and approved on 30 November 1998), which are to be read with and considered part of the programme with effect 1 April 2000.
