(b) Any reference to “Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki” means any person or persons appointed as Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve under Regulation 21 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999.
(c) “Rāpaki Marae Office” means the Marae Office located at Te Wheke Marae, Rāpaki Bay, P.O. Box 107, Lyttelton, Banks Peninsula.
(d) “Cockle” means mollusc Chione (austrovenus) stuchburyi.
(e) “Pāua” Haliotis iris, Haliotis australis and Haliotis virginea.
(f) “Pipi” means the mollusc Paphies australis.
(g) “Whairepo” means a skate of the Genus Raja, Bathyraja, or Arhynchobatis or a ray of the Genus Dasyatis, Myliobatis, Mobula, Torpedo, or Typhlonarke.
- Declaration of bylaws for the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve—The Minister of Fisheries hereby declares the following bylaws for the Mātaitai Reserve at Rāpaki Bay, Lyttelton Harbour:
(a) All fishing within the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve is to be reported to the Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki of the Reserve within five (5) days by filing a catch return form available from the Rāpaki Marae Office.
(b) The taking or possession of whairepo (skate and ray) from within the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve is prohibited.
(c) The taking or possession of pāua from within the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve is prohibited.
(d) The taking or possession of seaweed within the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve is prohibited.
(e) Bylaw 3 (d) does not apply to the taking or possession of Undaria pinnatifida.
(f) No person shall in any one day take or possess more than 50 cockles from the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve.
(g) No person shall in any one day take or possess more than 50 pipi from the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve.

Fishing subject to these bylaws—Under Regulations 25 (3) and 43 of the Fisheries (South Island Customary Fishing) Regulations 1999, all fishing within the Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve is subject to these bylaws.

Revocation—The Fisheries (Rāpaki Bay Mātaitai Reserve Bylaws) Notice 1999 (No. F125) published in the New Zealand Gazette on 12 August 1999, No. 94, page 2248 is hereby revoked.
