Conditions
(i) The beacon must not contain more than 4 light sources;
(ii) The beacon must be fitted to the vehicle so as to ensure maximum visibility to other road users;
(iii) The beacon must be fitted so that the direction of the light emitted by all light sources is approximately parallel to the ground;
(iv) The beacon must be fitted at right angle to the longitudinal centre-line of the vehicle;
(v) The beacon must emit a consistent cycle of amber light with a frequency of 2 to 4 Hertz;
(vi) The maximum energy of each light source must not exceed 22 Joule;
(vii) The vehicle may not be operated on the road during the hours of darkness;
(viii) The vehicle may only operate on a road when accompanied by front and rear pilot vehicles;
(ix) The vehicle can only be driven on roads with a speed limit of 50km/h or less;
(x) This exemption remains valid only while the vehicle is being operated in a fundraising event in conjunction with MTD Products NZ Limited, Radioworks and Victim Support;
(xi) This exemption must be carried on the vehicle at all times and be produced on request for enforcement officers;
(xii) This exemption expires on 5 December 2000.

Exemption From the Warrant of Fitness Requirements of the Traffic Regulations 1976 and the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990
Pursuant to Regulation 90 (1) of the Traffic Regulations 1976, and pursuant to Regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, I, John Andrew Justice, Acting Manager Safer Vehicles Policy, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements specified in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.
