Social Security Act 1964

Training Incentive Allowance Programme Amendment

Pursuant to section 124 (1) (d) of the Social Security Act 1964, I, Steven Maharey, Minister of Social Services and Employment, establish and approve the following amendments to the Training Incentive Allowance welfare programme (as established and approved on 30 November 1998), which are to be read with and considered part of the programme with effect 1 January 2000.

Amendments

1. Allowances—

1.1 Clause 5.2.2 of the programme is amended:

(a) by omitting from paragraph (c) the words “Course; or”, and substituting the word “Course.”; and

(b) by omitting paragraph (d).

1.2 Clause 5.2 of the programme is amended by adding the following subclause:

“5.2.3. No Allowance may be granted to an Applicant who has completed a degree course at a Tertiary Institution within the period of 5 years preceding the date of application for the Allowance (whether or not the person has been awarded a degree) unless the duration of the Course is less than 12 weeks.”

2. Rates—

The programme is amended by omitting clauses 6.1 to 6.3, and substituting the following clause:

“6.1 Weekly rate of Allowance

6.1.1. The amount of an Allowance is the Applicant’s Training Costs calculated on a weekly
