Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998

Appointment of an Administering Body for the Rakiura Titi (Muttonbird) Islands

In accordance with clause 13.6.3. of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement and section 336 of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998, the Minister of Conservation hereby appoints an Administering Body, consisting of 9 persons elected by Rakiura Maori and 1 Rakiura Maori nominated by Te Runanga o Ngāi Tahu, to control and manage the Rakiura Titi Islands (formerly known as the Crown Titi Islands).

The term of appointment is 5 years from February 1999. A hui to elect the Administering Body for the Rakiura Titi Islands was held on the Murihiku Marae, Tramway Road, Invercargill on Sunday, 21 February 1999, pursuant to section 13.6.3. of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement and section 336 of the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998. The Administering Body is to be formally known as the Rakiura Titi Islands Administering Body.
