(b) At Punakaiki in Buller District from a point (Route Position 374/12.62) 660 metres north of the northern abutment of the Punakaiki River Bridge to a point (Route Position 388/0.72) 720 metres south of the northern abutment of the Punakaiki River Bridge; a distance of 1.38 kilometres.

(c) At Paroa in Grey District from a point (Route Position 430/6.80) located 70 metres generally in a southerly direction from the intersection with Clough Road, to a point (Route Position 430/8.67) located generally in a southerly direction 150 metres from the intersection with Rutherglen Road; a distance of 1.87 kilometres.

The section of State Highway No. 7 that is at Totara Flat from a point (Route Position 224/5.10) 160 metres measured generally north-east of its junction with Granville Road to a point (Route Position 224/6.20) 950 metres generally south-west of its junction with Granville Road; a distance of 1.10 kilometres.

11. The section of State Highway No. 67 at Birchfield in Buller District from a point (Route Position 14/13.26) 380 metres measured in a generally northerly direction from Big Ditch Bridge to a point (Route Position 14/14.26) 1.01 kilometres measured in a generally southerly direction from Jones Creek Bridge; a distance of 1 kilometre.

12. The section of State Highway No. 73 at West Melton in Selwyn District from a point (Route Position 15/2.15) 250 metres measured in an easterly direction from the eastern boundary of the northern section of Weedons Ross Road to a point (Route Position 15/2.80) 400 metres measured in a westerly direction from the western boundary of the northern section of Weedons Ross Road, a distance of 670 metres.

13. The section of State Highway No. 75 that is at Halswell from a point (Route Position 0/2.77) located 50 metres measured south-westerly generally from Templetons Road to a point (Route Position 0/4.00) located at the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of Dunbars Road with a distance of 1.23 kilometres.

This bylaw was made by resolution passed by the Transit New Zealand Authority at a meeting held in Wellington on the 7th day of April 1999.

Bylaw Regulating the Speed of Vehicles on State Highways in Transit New Zealand Regions

13 and 14

Pursuant to section 61 (3) of the Transit New Zealand Act 1989, Transit New Zealand hereby makes the following bylaw:

B y l a w

1. Title and commencement—This bylaw may be cited as the Transit New Zealand (Speed of Vehicles on State Highways) Bylaw 1999/13 and shall come into force 28 days after its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

2. Interpretation

In this bylaw—

“vehicle” has the same meaning as in the Transport Act 1962.

3. Limiting speed of vehicles on State highways

No person shall drive or take or permit to be driven or taken any vehicle—

(a) At a speed exceeding 30 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the First Schedule to this bylaw; or

(b) At a speed exceeding 60 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Second Schedule to this bylaw; or

(c) At a speed exceeding 80 kilometres per hour on the sections of State highway described in the Third Schedule to this bylaw.

First Schedule

4. The section of State Highway No. 94 at Milford Sound commencing at a point (Route Position 241/16.50) 50 metres east of the airport access and extending in a generally northerly direction to the end of the State Highway (Route Position 241/17.40); a distance of 900 metres.

Second Schedule

5. The section of State Highway No. 6 at Frankton from a point (Route Position 983/11.55) 370 metres measured in an easterly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point (Route Position 996/0.15) 150 metres measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A); a distance of 520 metres.

6. The Section of State Highway No. 6A at Frankton from the start of the state highway (Reference Station 0) at the intersection with Kawarau Road (State Highway No. 6) to a point (Route Position 0/1.32) 150 metres measured in a westerly direction from Marina Drive; a distance of 1.32 kilometres.

Third Schedule

7. The section of State Highway No. 1 that is:

(a) At Woodlands in Southland, from a point (Route Position 902/3.33) measured 30 metres north-east of its junction with Grove Bush-Woodlands Road, to a point (Route Position 902/3.94) measured 30 metres south-west of its junction with Woodlands Cemetery Road; a distance of 610 metres.

(b) At Pukeurau from a point (Route Position 842/2.03) measured 100 metres east of its junction with East Street to a point (Route Position 842/3.37) 50 metres west of its junction with West Street; a distance of 1.34 kilometres.

8. The section of State Highway No. 6 that is:

(a) At Athol from a point (Route Position 1061/2.97) measured 30 metres east of the junction of State Highway No. 6 and Albion Street to a point (Route Position 1061/3.79) measured 370 metres west of the junction of State Highway No. 6 and Clyde Street; a distance of 820 metres.

(b) At Frankton from a point (Route Position 996/0.15) 150 metres measured in a southerly direction from Frankton Road (State Highway No. 6A) to a point (Route Position 996/1.88) 280 metres measured in a south-easterly direction from Kawarau Falls Bridge; a distance of 1.73 kilometres.
