Tax Administration Act 1994

1998 Income Tax Returns for Clients of Tax Agents—Late Filing Penalty

Pursuant to section 139A (5) of the Tax Administration Act 1994, Inland Revenue hereby gives notice to taxpayers with an arranged extension of time through their tax agent, which expired on the 31 March 1999, that any 1998 IR3, IR4 and IR5 income tax returns still outstanding 30 days after the publication of this notice will incur a late filing penalty.

The penalties to be imposed are as follows:

Taxpayers affected by this notice should contact their tax agent immediately to arrange for their tax return to be completed and returned to Inland Revenue.

Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977

Permission to Conduct Within New Zealand a Lottery Promoted Outside New Zealand

Pursuant to section 69 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977, I, Jack Elder, Minister of Internal Affairs, hereby permit Singapore Airlines Limited, to conduct within New Zealand, subject to the conditions specified in the Schedule to this notice, a lottery promoted outside New Zealand as a sales promotion scheme, to promote the sale of the three daily Singapore-London services.

Conditions

The permission given by this notice is subject to the following conditions, namely:

(1) Singapore Airlines Limited shall not conduct the sales promotion scheme in New Zealand after 30 September 1999;

(2) The results of the sales promotion scheme shall be published in the Sunday Star Times on 31 October 1999;

Winners will be notified by certified mail;

(3) New Zealand winners shall not be subject to any extra cost when they claim their prizes;

(4) The chance of a New Zealand participant winning a prize shall be equal to that of an overseas participant.

Family Court Judge Appointed

Pursuant to section 5 of the District Courts Act 1947, and section 5 (1) of the Family Courts Act 1980, His Excellency the Governor-General of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint

Anthony Joseph Fitzgerald, barrister and solicitor of Tauranga

to be a District Court Judge, to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within New Zealand, and to exercise the jurisdiction of the Family Courts.

Laboratory Approved for Testing the Accuracy of any Weighing Device and Testing the Accuracy and Surveying any Weighing Site

Pursuant to sections 147 (2) (a) (iii) and 147 (2) (b) (iii) of the Land Transport Act 1998, I hereby approve the Measurement Standards Laboratory of New Zealand, Industrial Research Limited, situated at Gracefield Road, Lower Hutt, as a laboratory approved for the purposes of:

(a) testing the accuracy of any weighing device; and

(b) testing the accuracy or surveying any weighing site.
