Notice of Proposed Land Transport Rules

The Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA), in accordance with section 161 (2) of the Land Transport Act 1998, gives notice that the following draft rules are available for public comment:

Land Transport Rule: Tyres and Wheels (Rule 32013).
This draft legislation is intended to ensure that tyres and wheels on vehicles meet an acceptable level of safety when fitted, and throughout their on-road life.

Amendments to seven rules for vehicle standards safety.
This draft legislation is intended to update and replace the following Land Transport Rules:

  • Door Retention Systems 1997 (Rule 32001)
  • Interior Impact 1997 (Rule 32002)
  • Steering Systems 1997 (Rule 32003)
  • Frontal Impact 1997 (Rule 32006)
  • External Projections 1997 (Rule 32008)
  • Head Restraints 1997 (Rule 32010)
  • Glazing 1996 (Rule 32012)

A copy of the draft rules may be obtained by calling the LTSA Help Desk on Freephone 0800 699 000 or by visiting the LTSA website at www.ltsa.govt.nz/legislation/index.html and clicking on RULES SUBMISSIONS. The draft rules are also available for viewing at the LTSA’s seven regional offices. Copies have been sent to the registered interest groups who expressed an interest in these rules.

Submissions on draft Land Transport Rule: Tyres and Wheels and the draft amendments to the seven rules for vehicle standards close on 7 May 1999.

Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Exemption From Specified Requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990

Pursuant to regulation 36 of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990, I, Jörg Simon Mager, Senior Engineer, hereby exempt the motor vehicle specified in Schedule 1 of this notice from the requirements of the Transport (Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990 listed in Schedule 2, subject to the conditions specified in Schedule 3.
