Classification of Medicines

Pursuant to section 106 (1) of the Medicines Act 1981, I, G. Grew, Chief Advisor, Regulation and Safety (acting), acting under delegated authority, hereby declare the following:

The medicines listed in Schedule 1 to this notice are classified as prescription medicines.

Every reference to a medicine in this notice applies whether the medicine is synthetic in origin or is from biological or mineral sources.

Unless specific reference is made otherwise, every reference applies also to medicines that are:

(a) Preparations and admixtures containing any proportion of any substance listed in the notice;

(b) Salts and esters of any substance listed in the notice;

(c) Preparations or extracts of biological materials listed in the notice;

(d) Salts or oxides of elements listed in the notice.

Where any reference is modified by a statement of the strength of the medicine, the strength is calculated using the free acid, base, alcohol or element unless specifically stated otherwise.

New Zealand Food Standard 1996

Amendment No. 12

Section 11G of the Food Act 1981

The New Zealand Food Standard 1996, Amendment No. 12 (β€˜the Standard’) was issued by the Minister of Health on 8 March 1999.

The amendment incorporates into the Standard changes made in Amendment No. 42 to the Australian Food Standards Code (AFSC).

The New Zealand Food Standard 1996, and the material incorporated by reference into the Standard, i.e., the AFSC, up to and including Amendment No. 42, is available for inspection at the Ministry of Health, 133 Molesworth Street, Wellington.

Copies of both the New Zealand Food Standard 1996 and the AFSC, and their amendments, are available for purchase from any Bennetts Government Bookshop.
