Part-time School Speed Limit Zones Trial
Pursuant to section 78 of the Transport Act 1962, and pursuant to a sub-delegation to me by the Director of Land Transport Safety by an instrument dated 3rd day of May 1999, I, John Paul Edgar, Manager Safer Roads authorises the erection, installation and maintenance of experimental signs at the locations described in Schedule 1 of this notice, and subject to the terms set out in Schedule 2 of this notice, in substitution for the speed limit signs specified in regulation 129 of the Traffic Regulations 1976. This notice shall be called the Part-time School Speed Limit Zones Trial and sites equipped with the signs described shall be called Part-time School Speed Limit Zones for the purpose of evaluating the use of the said signs.
Schedule 1
The following localities within Christchurch City shall be those approved for use in the Part-time School Speed Limit Zone Trial.

Amyes Road from a point, more or less, 15 metres south-easterly generally of Tower Street to a point, more or less, 170 metres south-easterly generally of Branston Street (Branston Intermediate School).

Greers Road from a point, more or less, 35 metres north-easterly generally of Reynolds Avenue to a point, more or less, 100 metres north-easterly generally of Paprika Place (Bishopdale School).

Harewood Road from a point, more or less, 12 metres westerly generally of Stanleys Road to a point, more or less, 130 metres westerly generally of Waimakariri Road (Harewood School).

State Highway 1 (Main North Road) from a point, more or less, 100 metres north-easterly generally of Swift Street to a point, more or less, 170 metres south-westerly generally of Lagan Street (Belfast School).

State Highway 75 (Halswell Road) from a point, more or less, 240 metres north-easterly generally of Larsens Road to a point, more or less, 90 metres south-westerly generally of OβHalloran Drive (Halswell School).
Schedule 2
1. Duration of the Trial
The period of the Part-time School Speed Limit Zones Trial shall start after the 24th day of January 2000 and shall end on the 20th day of December 2001. The Part-time School Speed Limit Zones Trial shall apply to all signs specified in this Schedule.
2. Signs for Part-time School Speed Limit Zones
Each Part-time School Speed Limit Zone shall have:
(a) at least one Electronic School Zone sign, described in Diagram 1, at each end of the part-time school speed limit zone facing motorists travelling towards the zone on the road named in Schedule 1;
(b) at least one Fixed School Zone sign, described in Diagram 2, facing motorists travelling toward the part-time school speed limit zone along each side road entering the section of road described in Schedule 1;
(c) at least one Type I School Zone Ends sign, described in Diagram 3, at each end of the part-time school speed limit zone facing motorists leaving the zone on the road named in Schedule 1;
(d) at least one Type I School Zone Ends sign or at least one Type II School Zone Ends, described in Diagram 4, at each end of the part-time school speed limit zone facing motorists leaving the zone on any side road connecting with a section of road named in Schedule 1.
