The following South Westland waters shall be open all year downstream of S/H 6 and the Haast / Cascade Road.

Totara River Mikonui River
Waitaha River Okarito River
Okarito Lagoon Tatara River
Waiho River Omoeroa River
Waikukupa River Fox River
Cook River Karangarua River
Mahitahi River Jacobs River
Paringa River Whakapohi River
Moeraki River Waita River
Haast River Okuru River
Turnbull River Hapuka River
Waitoto River Hindleys Creek
Arawhata River Cascade River

The season duration for trout and perch in all other waters shall be: 1 October - 30 April

2.2 Open season for salmon
Lakes Mapourika, Paringa (incl. Windbag Strm.) and Lake Moeraki 1 October – 31 March
All other waters 1 October – 30 April

  1. CLOSED WATERS

3.1 McDonalds Creek at Lake Mapourika is closed to fishing at all times.

  1. DAILY BAG LIMIT (Refer First schedule 6.1)

4.1 No licence holder shall on any day take, kill or be in possession of more than four sports fish, of which not more than two may be trout taken from the following waters.

 Murray Creek                 Harris Creek
 Duck Creek                   Ohikanui River
 Waitahu River                Larrys Creek
 Stony Creek                  Rough River
 Haupiri River                Crooked River
 Orangipuku River             Bruce Stream
 Big River                    Moonlight River
 Karamea River and tributaries (above cableway at mouth of lower gorge)
 Mokihinui River and tributaries (upstream of cableway below Welcome Creek.)

4.2 In all other waters except in the case of perch for which there is no daily limit, no licence holder shall on any day take, kill or be in possession of more than four sportsfish, of which not more than one may be a salmon and no more than two may be rainbow trout.
